For my taste, this wasn’t a terribly enjoyable read because it was very much a detailed account of the battle strategies employed by both sides of the war. Trivia About Enemy at the Gate I am more interested in the human factor of the war, not the stratagems. Probably my biggest take-away was an feeling of horror at the things that people did to each other and to the brutality of the conditions a Russian winter under which they fought.
