F2L TUTORIAL PDF
The story here is that I never watched a video for intuitive F2L because they were all too long. I find that I learn better from videos, but I’m also. F2L (First 2 Layers) is a way of continuing after solving the cross. In most cases those algorithms are simply the intuitive pair-and-insert. The name CFOP comes from the steps involved (Cross, F2L, OLL, PLL), and you . Rather than relying on a big table of algorithms, F2L is best done intuitively.

You will have to rely on them in practically every solve until you learn every other OLL and PLL algorithm, which will take you some time and effort.
The important part of F2L is being able to solve each of the pairs without affecting any of the other previously solved pairs. Not having to turn the cube over after completing the cross on the top layer saves a lot of time, and it also means that you can be looking for the pieces for the next step whilst completing the cross on the bottom. There are many ways to solve the ‘F2L’ on a cube.
F2L combines steps 2 and 3 of my beginner solution, but it requires approximately the same number of moves as step tutoria, alone.
They are applicable to all F2L slots when tutotial accordingly. One – the pairing of the corner and edge aka “F2L pair” – and two – the insertion of the F2L pair. So instead of producing the cross by finding each white edge piece and solving them one by one, what you actually want to be doing is solving each piece at the same time in an efficient way.
It is difficult to teach intuition, but through practice it should eventually just ‘click’ in your head. In general the 1x2x2 block should always come before its connecting 1x1x2 block, otherwise more moves will be required later. Where there is a strong preference for one hand, cube rotations such as z for left-hand blocks can tutorrial make algorithm execution easier.
This guide takes you through every step of the CFOP speedcubing method. This idea does not mean that the previous advice of how to perform the algorithms is redundant.
F2L – The First Two Layers – ZZ Method Tutorial
It’s ok, no one has to know. There are five such cases that you should learn the algorithmic solution for, and they’re all in this nice little table:. The idea of F2L is to pair each of the four bottom layer corners with the corresponding edge piece and then insert them into the correct place. Most F2L cases consist of two parts. It can be done in one of two ways, depending on whether the block is being connected with a D-layer tutorlal mid-slice edge. You simply repeat these steps for each of the four corners, and solve tugorial F2L pair in turn.
The corner piece is paired with the edge piece, and the pair is inserted into the right place. Corner Bottom, Edge Middle Adv: Both have the same effect, but a double layer turn is quicker.
In order to reduce this step into bite-sized chunks which can be recognised and executed quickly, the step is split into four parts:. Deliberately leaving a slot open can improve efficiency and is a useful technique for improving lookahead. Just like the beginner guide, the rest of the last layer isn’t an intuitive thing you can just work out if you can, you and rutorial mega-brain should probably be working for NASA or something.
Home Old Updates Contact Me. It is the greatest oak that has the strongest roots, and you’ll grow your roots using the beginner’s guide.
At this stage, a tutoiral of people still find it quite difficult to intuitively manipulate the cube. If you need to swap opposite edges, you can use this algorithm:. Very slow indeed, about seconds per quarter turn of a face.
Last Layer Edge Control coming soon! They also tend to use more double layer turns like d as opposed U y’. Being able to recognise it and perform it without thinking will make the task of learning lots of algorithms much, much easier. Wiki tools Special pages.
You might think that this sounds quite challenging, and you’d be right. Members Current visitors New profile posts Search profile posts. If it is the F2k colour you can solve the pair using only RU and if it is the F colour you can turn the cube y’ and sovle the pair to the back slot using only RU.
Instead, really try and solve each case intuitively. Why not see how well you gutorial do with the timerand please do get in touch if you have anything you’d like to say, or leave a comment below! Mostly, people learn 1-look PLL before 1-look OLL, as there are fewer of them to learn and they are more easily identified.
When my sister wanted to learn f2l I just sent her this video. To do this, you need to look for ‘headlights’ – a face where both top layer corners are the same colour presumably named due to their resemblance to the headlights of a car.
This completes the cube, which you probably know looks like this:. Being able to identify it easily will make algorithms that use it easier to learn, so whenever it is used in tutroial guide it will be highlighted in red. If the required pieces are already in the U-layer, but connected incorrectly they’ll need to be separated before they can be solved.
