Interaction Design: Beyond Human-Computer Interaction, 4th Edition

Welcome to Interaction Design: This book is no exception. However, I currently like it better than the Shneiderman textbook I used to use, and plan to use it again in the future.

The book and the associated website encourage readers to be ac- tive when reading and to think about seminal issues. As a set text this has proved very useful, although many of the reference sources are now out of date.

It should be labelled ‘start niterao. Hugely popular with students and professionals alike, Interaction Design is an ideal resource for learning the interdisciplinary skills needed for interaction design, human—computer interaction, information design, web design and ubiquitous computing.

Oreece that it is widely accepted that HCI has moved beyond designing computer systems for one user sitting in front of one ma- chine to embrace new paradigms, we, likewise, have covered a wider range of is- sues. Solid concepts explained repeatedly under different names.

The two are dynalinked: This involves informing, building and evaluating novel user experiences through creating and assembling a diversity of pervasive technologies. This book could be half its length and still get all points across just fine. I’m not totally comfortable with the order of the chapters.

Usability engineering is not easy, but it doesn’t need to be artificially inflated either. This has proved a very thought-provoking and interesting introduction to the science of human computer interaction.

Having read a fair bit of the book now, in a non linear fashion, i have to say its pitched too low e. Having re-read it in detail I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone who wants a detailed understanding of Interaction Design processes. At my university we have the course “Interaction Design”, where this book is reading material. Want to Read saving…. Now I realize that learning is a path and what was written in this book is a kind of another path. Contact your Rep for all shsrp. View all 3 comments. Lists with This Book. A cross-disciplinary, practical and process-oriented approach to the subject, showing not just what principles ought to apply to interaction design, but crucially how they can be applied.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. This textbook is for undergraduate and masters students from a range of back- grounds studying classes in human-computer shxrp, interaction design, web design, etc.

It covers a lot of areas. Beyond Human-Computer Interaction because it is concerned with a broader scope of issues, topics, and paradigms than has traditionally been the scope of human-computer interaction HCI. While this preecee does have some helpful complements to my Interaction Design and Evaluating Interactive Systems course it does so in such a bland and boring manner that is all too common with school books.

Refresh and try again.
