The writer is witty and sympathetic at all times the first chapter is called ‘To Deliver You From Preliminary Terrors’. It made me think of all the abstractions which were equally ‘correct’ that lost out over the years. It would’ve made it the book better if calcculus had a chapter on Limits as well.

Turns out I just hated how it was taught to me. But for someone that wants to be cleared from the misconceptions that we can have regarding calculus, this book is useful. But all in all was a helpful book. The idea of calculus is so simple, and Mr. I should emphasise that the edition I read was not the one updated by Martin Gardner, with its new introduction, three new chapters and thompwon language.

Calculus made easy is one of the best science and math books that I have read to date. The preface helps, but the reviews and side notes that Martin added are as if they look like they were part of the original book. It’s been pointed out by others that Martin Gardner’s changes for the edition are of dubious value, and I agree. I’m a software developer and have had my interests in Mathematics for quite some time now.

No wonder many people still look at math students as possessing a form of ‘genius’ that is both threatening and alienating at the same time. In the first major revision of the text sinceMartin Gardner – the ‘Mathematical Games’ It’s a clear, simple but practical look at calculus and without it I probably would have became a liberal arts major.
